Food Recovery Manager, Dig Deep Farms
The Food Recovery Manager will be an employee of the Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL). Dig Deep Farms is a DSAL social enterprise with a dual mission of providing access to healthy food and creating job experience, as well as employment opportunities to populations that have historically been denied access to both.
In 2019, Dig Deep Farms launched its food hub, designed to create jobs and connect the local community with seasonal, healthy, fresh food. The emergent Food Recovery Program will work to fight hunger and prevent food waste by rescuing fresh, edible surplus produce from farmers markets, schools, municipalities, and produce wholesalers and delivering this food to low-income families throughout Alameda County.
The Food Recovery Manager will coordinate and implement its Food Recovery initiative in partnership with All In Alameda County.
