Revised Guidance for Reusables under Shelter-In-Place Order

April 3, 2020

The Alameda County Health Department has issued a revised shelter-in-place order that includes stricter measures to prevent unnecessary contact at grocery stores and food establishments. Under the measure, customers are not permitted to bring their own bags, mugs, or other reusable items from home. For up to date information on the revised shelter-in-place order, visit the Health Department's website (see Appendix A, page 15 for specific information on reusables). StopWaste will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as they are available.

In the meantime, we encourage people to visit the Centers for Disease Control website for guidance on how to protect yourself. We realize this is a challenging time, and even a frustrating phase for those committed to reducing waste through reusables. We applaud your efforts, and please keep your reusable bags, mugs, and other reusable items close by for when we're able to resume bringing them. Stay safe and healthy.
