Drought News for Landscape Professionals: WELO Update & Workshops
WELO Is Changing!
On July 15, 2015 the state approved revisions to the Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), which promotes efficient water use in new and retrofitted landscapes.
Join us for WELO and water conservation workshops at StopWaste's office in September and October.
One major change is new requirements for compost and mulch. Other significant changes include a lower landscape size threshold (500 sq. ft. for new landscape projects) and a reduced water allowance.
Local agencies must adopt the MWELO or their own WELO, which must be at least as stringent, by December 1, 2015.
