Merritt Crossing: Sustainability and Savings for Seniors

September 1, 2012

Merritt Crossing, a new building in downtown Oakland with 70 apartments for low-income seniors, is on track to receive the Bay-Friendly Rated Landscape designation. Owned by Affordable Housing Associates (AHA), the building is the first multifamily high rise building in California to be ENERGY STAR certified, and is expected to earn LEED Platinum and GreenPoint Rated certifications. StopWaste provided AHA with $42,000 in grants to fund some of the project’s green building and Bay-Friendly landscape features.
