One-stop Green Purchasing Website Expands Offerings for 2015
Quantity Quotes works to connect large-quantity buyers to local suppliers of green and resource-efficient products
OAKLAND, Calif. – January 12, 2015 – StopWaste, an Alameda, California-based public agency focused on waste reduction and energy efficiency programs, today announced the expansion of Quantity Quotes (www.QuantityQuotes.net). The online purchasing tool makes it easy for organizations around the nation to buy green and resource-efficient building materials. With the expansion, the site offers five new product categories, including WaterSense® water-saving products, ENERGY STAR® lighting and appliances, and products made from recycled content.
Available as a free service, Quantity Quotes is ideal for large quantity buyers such as utilities, governments, affordable and multifamily housing providers, and colleges and universities looking for an easy, one-stop purchasing experience. Buyers simply select the products they want to purchase, then receive competitive bids from multiple vendors. Vendors use the site at no charge and have the opportunity to connect directly to bulk-buying customers.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) developed Quantity Quotes and provides in-kind support to StopWaste, which runs the day-to-day operations.
“Quantity Quotes provides a channel for organizations around the country to implement green and resource-efficient purchasing strategies in the easiest way possible,” said Stephanie Stern, program manager, StopWaste. “As a regional organization, we’re well positioned to help make a difference for our environment on the whole, as well as in our own backyard.”
All products offered on the Quantity Quotes site must meet stringent environmental and energy efficiency criteria. Insulation must be low-VOC and contain at least 30 percent recycled content. Other products are required to meet ENERGY STAR or WaterSense standards, developed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Purchasers start by registering with the site, then much like typical online shopping, select the products they’d like to purchase and add them to their cart. They will then receive bids for review from vendors with final contracting taking place offline.
Vendors start by creating a profile. Once the profile is created, they will receive requests from interested buyers.
