StopWaste Recognizes 2018 Business Efficiency Award Winners
Five Alameda County Companies Celebrated for Waste Reduction Excellence
Oakland, CA—At a recognition event yesterday, StopWaste acknowledged the recipients of the 2018 StopWaste Business Efficiency Awards, given for outstanding achievements in waste reduction.
StopWaste Executive Director Wendy Sommer praised the award winners for their achievements. “These businesses are ahead of their industries in diverting and reducing waste. Several of the awardees are looking beyond recycling and composting and are taking voluntary actions to reduce waste by using reusables, innovative technologies, and employee engagement,” Sommer said.
The winners—five companies from around Alameda County—represent a wide range of industries and were selected for their leadership in waste prevention, recycling, and composting:

- Redwood Surgery Center (Castro Valley)
- Ruby King Bakery (Oakland)
Excellence in Waste Prevention & Reuse
- Checkers Catering and Special Events (Livermore)
- New Parkway Theater (Oakland)
- Pixar Animation Studios (Emeryville)
