Construction and Demolition Recycling

Construction and demolition (C&D) materials still occupy a large percentage of our landfill space. In Alameda County alone, more than 355,000 tons of construction and demolition materials are unnecessarily disposed of at landfills annually.

More detailed information can be found on our construction and demolition debris pages for commercial projects.

Waste Generation Estimates for Residential Construction Projects

In 2006, StopWaste analyzed a year’s worth of waste management plan data submitted to several Alameda County cities to develop estimates for C&D waste generation based on construction project type. Data is for total waste generated, including inerts and yard waste.
