Maintaining Your Low-Water Garden

Join compost and sheet mulching guru Lori Caldwell, an EBRPD Ranger, and an EBMUD Representative for a hands-on workshop to learn how to keep your garden thriving. Topics will include plant care such as deadheading, pruning, dividing perennials; weed prevention such as spot treatment with sheet mulching; and information on setting up and monitoring seasonal watering. Space is limited.

Medicinal Herbs Workshop

Herbs are easy to grow and pack a punch in your kitchen but are also great for your health. This workshop will cover herbs that do well in the Bay Area, in gardens big and small. Everyone will go home with handouts of information, and there will be a free drawing with useful giveaways at the end.

 

Lawn to Garden Party!

Dates: Sunday, May 5, 9:30 am to 1 pm

Not like any other lawn party, this party will give you the opportunity to help convert a Dublin resident's lawn into an attractive garden using the sheet-mulch method all in one day, for free!

This workshop will provide hands-on instruction on sheet-mulching, irrigation, plant selection, and more. Bay-Friendly Qualified Designers will be on hand to answer questions. Take home informational materials, including information on lawn conversion rebates through Zone 7 Water Agency. Dress appropriately: please wear flat, closed toed shoes and bring a hat, gloves, and water bottle.

 

Gardening for Renters

Are you and renter who wants to garden? This class can help you navigate small spaces so you can! Topics will include: container gardening, working with your landlord, gardening indoors, free/low cost resources, reuse options and maintaining your garden.

 

Go from Lawn to Garden: a talk on Design and Sheet Mulching

This talk will outline how you can easily convert your lawn to a garden without ripping out the grass. Bay-Friendly Designer Tyler Coen and StopWaste Educator Lori Caldwell will provide useful design tips and demonstrate the innovative and sustainable technique – sheet mulching with cardboard, compost and mulch.

 

Compost and the Carbon Farming Connection
