StopWaste works with landscape professionals, property owners and public agency staff in Alameda County to promote Bay-Friendly landscape practices that improve soil health, reduce waste, save water, and help keep our watersheds and our communities healthy.

Landscapes designed, built and maintained in accordance with Bay-Friendly principles and practices can achieve: 

  • 50% water savings
  • 30–70% maintenance labor savings
  • 70–80% reduced runoff
  • 53 tons/acre greenhouse gas reduction, equal to taking about 10 passenger cars off the road

StopWaste Receives PG&E Partnership Certification
StopWaste Recognized by EBMUD as Inaugural WaterSmart Partner

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) recognized StopWaste as one of four inaugural WaterSmart Partners at a ceremony on March 12, 2019. StopWaste previously received WaterSmart designation in 2011 for on-site water-saving practices. The Partnership designation is new for WaterSmart, and EBMUD recognized StopWaste for its long-standing partnership with the utility, and for programs that have contributed to water savings, such as trainings and resources for landscape professionals...
