Landscape Improvement Grants
Interested in using sheet mulch to convert turf to water-saving landscapes? Lawn to Garden has everything you need to know about the sheet mulch process.
StopWaste is offering grants up to $15,000 for lawn conversions and Bay-Friendly Rated Landscapes.
Grants of up to $10,000 and free technical assistance are available for using sheet mulch (cardboard, compost and mulch) to convert lawns to water-saving landscapes. Grants of $5,000 are also available to create Bay-Friendly Rated Landscapes. Owners of eligible properties may apply for one or both grants.
For more information and an application, contact Teresa Eade.
Projects must be located in Alameda County and can be civic or non-profit properties. Priority is given to public properties owned by StopWaste’s member agencies.

For Bay-Friendly Rated Landscape grants, projects must:
- Consist of new construction or major renovation of an irrigated landscape with an area of 2,500 square feet or more, and
