The purpose of the reuse grant is to support the viability of reuse organizations; thereby extending the life of products and materials while reducing the environmental impacts and supporting community organizations in Alameda.
Grant funding is intended to support reuse organizations that foster creative and productive projects that reuse materials over again in its current form without significant processing that alters its material structure. Priority is given to nonprofit organizations but there is limited funding available for reuse organizations that do not have a 501c status.
Examples of previously funded reuse grants for ongoing activities:

Funds to support Program Manager's salary and to offset rental fees of warehouse where the donations of reused clothing are stored, sorted and packaged.
- Nonprofit diverts salvaged materials from manufacturers and businesses and turns them into 50,000 classroom activity kits for teachers. Funding request to continue to collect 10,000 cubic feet of materials and serve 1,000 teachers in Alameda County.
