Services for Businesses and Organizations in Castro Valley Sanitary District

The Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) contracts with Waste Management of Alameda County for garbage, recyclables and organics (food scraps, food-soiled paper and yard trimmings) collection service.

In CVSan, collection rates for recycling and organics cart service are less expensive than garbage service. For business and multi-family customers that are already paying for 3 cubic yards of garbage service per week or less, recycling is included.

Free onsite waste and recycling assessments are available upon request. Customers may also submit a request form for internal containers and equipment (see below in the Support Materials section for more information).

Mandatory Recycling Ordinance

The Alameda County Waste Management Authority Mandatory Recycling Ordinance prohibits the disposal of certain readily recyclable materials. It requires businesses and multi-family properties with five or more units to provide on-site recycling to handle the amount of recyclable materials produced at those locations. Visit the Recycling Rules Alameda County website for more information about the Alameda County Mandatory Recycling Ordinance.
