Certification of Recycling Service

This form is to certify the business listed below does not subscribe to collection service of compost containers and/or recycling containers because it has arranged for all recyclable and/or compostable materials (organics) to be recycled by self-hauling, back-hauling, sharing service with another account holder, or contracting with a third party recycler.  If this certification is approved, it will provide documentation that the site listed below is meeting the SB 1383 and Organics Reduction and Recycling Ordinance requirements for recyclable and/or compostable materials collection, as indicated in the form below.

Required Self-haul Information

All compostable and/or recyclable materials are self-hauled by employee(s) of the business to a composting or recycling facility.

State and local laws require businesses to keep a record of the amount of materials recycled/composted. Records must include delivery receipts and weight tickets with amounts in cubic yards or tons with the name of the recycling or composting facility clearly shown on receipts. The record is subject to inspection, if requested.

Receipts (copies) of two recent transactions must be submitted with the completed form.

Required Back-haul Information

All compostable and/or recyclable materials are back-hauled to a facility owned and operated by the business using your own employees and equipment and then the consolidated materials are hauled to facilities that compost and/or recycle the material.

All compostable and/or recyclable materials are placed in collection containers at another place of business which has regular compost and/or recycling collection service. 

Note: Shared service arrangements are subject to verification with the business/organization that has regular compost and/or recycling collection service. Collection container(s) and service must be sufficient for materials generated by both businesses/organizations.


Required Third Party Collection Information

All compostable and/or recyclable materials are collected by a contracted third party for the specific purpose of composting or recycling all materials. 

*Note: The third party will be required to demonstrate it meets legal requirements for collection of compostable and/or recyclable materials for this certification to be valid.
