In-Person Transfer Station Field Trips

Field trips to the award-winning StopWaste Education Center offer students an opportunity to learn first-hand what happens to their recyclables, garbage and compostables at a working material recovery facility and transfer station. This field trip provides real-life application of concepts taught in the classroom in the areas of physical science, life science and investigation & experimentation. Trips (valued at $1,200) are free for Alameda County 4th grade classes. Alameda County private schools may request a field trip by sending us an inquiry.

Request an In-Person Field Trip

As of September 2024, the Davis St. Education Center is under construction and will have limited availability for field trips this fall. If you are interested in a Davis St. field trip and do not see an available date, please send us an inquiry so you can be added to our notify list for updates and ensure that you’re signed up for our StopWaste@Schools E-news.

StopWaste is looking for active partners in reducing and preventing waste throughout the county and beyond. As such, we are no longer a first-come, first-serve program

Due to limited capacity for in-person field trips, we may not be able to accommodate all field trip requests. To support the availability of our programs, we are offering Virtual Field Trips where StopWaste staff facilitate a virtual experience to bring the transfer station into the classroom.
