Learn simple mends and patches for rips and tears in your clothing!
Learn how to make simple mends to your clothes: fix a rip, sew a patch, sew a button, do a blind stitch (very useful for hemming!), and then - if time - learn some basic darns. Extend the life of your clothing by repairing rather than replacing!
All skills will be done by hand on fabric swatches, including hemming. Students should have some comfort with the basics of sewing. All supplies will be provided.
Instructor Cirrus Wood is a self-taught artisan who enjoys coming up with and learning new techniques to make clothing more visually appealing and more durable. He runs the mending and tailoring business Dollars & Yen which came about after years of casually combining elements of both Japanese and American design in his own wardrobe.
