StopWaste offers equipment grants to help Alameda County organizations prevent waste, strengthen food recovery, and transition from disposable to reusable systems. Three grant programs are currently available.

Note: Applications are currently closed. StopWaste is conducting a programmatic review, with revamped grant programs launching in fall 2026. Sign up for email updates to be notified when applications reopen.

SCHOOLS & INSTITUTIONS

Reusable Foodware Cafeteria Grants

$25,000–$50,000 for K-12 schools, colleges, hospitals, and institutions to replace disposable cafeteria items with durable reusable foodware and dishwashing systems.

RESTAURANTS & EATING ESTABLISHMENTS

Reusable Foodware Mini-Grants

Restaurants, cafes, and retail food businesses can receive up to $500 in reusable foodware plus free hands-on transition support through the ReUse Assist Program. No complicated paperwork required.
