We Are the ReGeneration is more than a program—it's an intergenerational movement. Students and families become part of a collective identity committed to rebuilding a regenerative earth, documenting their actions through creative storytelling.

The Concept

The ReGeneration reframes how we think about environmental action. Rather than focusing on what divides generations, it positions everyone—students, parents, grandparents—as part of the same movement to create a healthy world for everyone.

As one East Bay parent put it: "Together we can support a ReGenerative ReCovery by ReThinking what is possible."

This action-based storytelling platform asks Alameda County youth and families to:

  • Reflect on their environmental actions at home and school
  • Get creative and document their personal sustainability efforts through various art forms
  • Answer the central question: "What Are Your 4Rs?"
  • Create unique interpretations beyond the traditional Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot

Journal Set

We are the ReGeneration Journals

These downloadable journals are a series of simple, guided workbooks designed to help students and families reflect on and take action around waste reduction and sustainability. Each journal builds on the idea of the “4Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot), prompting participants to define what these actions mean to them, personalize their own set of “Rs,” and explore how they contribute to a larger regenerative community. Through short, creative, and reflective activities, the journals encourage users to think about their daily habits, identify ways to take action at home, and see themselves as part of a collective effort to care for the environment and inspire others.
