California State law SB 1383 requires businesses, nonprofit, institutions and multifamily properties to have compost (organics) and recycling collection service, set up indoor bin properly and ensure that materials are sorted correctly. They also must educate employees, contractors (such as custodians), and tenants at least annually about the law. This template memo is designed to support outreach efforts. It can be easily customized and emailed, distributed in hard copy, or posted in a high traffic back-of-house area.
