StopWaste grants have helped dozens of Alameda County organizations prevent waste, strengthen food systems, and transition to reusable alternatives. Here are highlights from recent grantees across each program.

Reusable Transport Packaging Grants

  • Elder Care Alliance — Reduced packaging waste across multiple care facilities by switching to durable reusable transport containers
  • Drakes Brewing — Eliminated thousands of pounds of single-use packaging annually by transitioning to reusable distribution packaging
  • Philz Coffee — Switched distribution packaging to durable reusable alternatives, reducing ongoing packaging costs and waste
  • Full Belly Farm — Implemented reusable crates for farm-to-market distribution, replacing disposable boxes
  • Surplus Service — Scaled reusable packaging systems for food redistribution operations

Surplus Food Donation Equipment Grants

Grant-funded equipment has strengthened food recovery capacity across Alameda County. Notable recipients include:

  • Centro de Servicios — Food recovery and redistribution
  • Davis Street Community Center — Cold storage expansion for food pantry
  • Mercy Brown Bag Program — Transport and storage equipment for food rescue operations
  • Dandelion Kitchen — Food preparation and storage equipment
  • Community Kitchens — Expanded capacity to process and redistribute surplus food
