StopWaste Pilots Solar Panel Collection Event In partnership with the California Product Stewardship Council, StopWaste hosted a free, one-day residential solar panel collection event at the Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station for Alameda County residents. Event staff collected 171 solar panels, and of those, 47 panels were tested and confirmed suitable for reuse, while 124 panels were designated for recycling. Funded by CalRecycle, this initiative helps keep hazardous materials from being disposed of improperly and supports market development for used solar panels. Launched in 2025, the

DFA Awards StopWaste and Partners with Healthy Soils Grant

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) recently announced its latest round of grant recipients for the Healthy Soils Program, distributing $12.48 million throughout the state. A team composed of the Alameda County Resource Conservation District (ACRCD), StopWaste, UC Merced, Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Point Blue Conservation Science, is one of 23 recipients selected for an on-farm Healthy Soils Demonstration Grant to test the efficacy of compost application in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and sequestering carbon on rangeland soil in eastern Alameda

StopWaste, Oakland to Participate in NRDC Food Matters Tour

StopWaste Recognized by EBMUD as Inaugural WaterSmart Partner

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) recognized StopWaste as one of four inaugural WaterSmart Partners at a ceremony on March 12, 2019. StopWaste previously received WaterSmart designation in 2011 for on-site water-saving practices. The Partnership designation is new for WaterSmart, and EBMUD recognized StopWaste for its long-standing partnership with the utility, and for programs that have contributed to water savings, such as trainings and resources for landscape professionals.
