RFQ: Food Waste Solution Providers

The deadline for the initial review process has passed, but applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the Agency has established a qualified list of service providers. View the list of service providers qualified to date here. The list serves as a resource for applicants to StopWaste’s Food Waste Prevention & Recovery Grants looking to partner with qualified providers who offer solutions and services that can prevent surplus food from being generated or going to waste.

StopWaste is seeking responses from businesses, nonprofits and individuals that can deliver solutions that reduce or reroute surplus food from food-related establishments in Alameda County such as grocery stores, restaurants, wholesale food vendors and manufacturers, institutions, health care facilities, hotels, etc.
 
Entities offering services appropriate for the activities and scenarios listed below are encouraged to submit qualifications documenting their expertise and experience in one or more focus areas outlined in the RFQ:

  • Secondary resale markets or post-retail channels that enable the sale of surplus food inventory
  • Technologies that extend the shelf-life of food
  • Food waste tracking technology
  • Applications that connect retailers to customers willing to purchase past-prime products at a discount
  • Projects that enable upstream management of surplus food
 Upcycled Food   Solution Providers
  • Food industry experts (such as culinary innovators, food industry trend forecasters, food business strategists, chefs, food scientists, etc.) who can identify infrastructure needs and provide support to food businesses by identifying projects that can prevent wasted food through creating new, high-quality consumables which utilize by-products that would otherwise go to waste
  • Organizations who can assist food businesses with achieving certifications or standards for upcycled products
 Food Recovery   Communication   Platform
